Savannah's beach town — three miles of public beach, the historic Tybee Light, and an unmistakable salt-air feel.
Tybee Island is the easternmost point of Georgia and Savannah's only public ocean beach, with its own town government and a year-round population of around 3,100. The Tybee Island Light Station's current tower dates to 1773 (lower section) and 1867 (upper section), built on the site of Georgia's original 1736 station — one of the oldest active lighthouses in the country.
Long-term rentals are limited and turn over slowly — most beach housing is on the short-term vacation circuit. Available year-round homes range from raised beach cottages to small condos near the strand.
